Traditional Wisdom/Indigenous Culture
The heart of Costa Rica is steeped in years of traditional wisdom. From medicinal plants to time-honored meals, indigenous culture still dictates much of the local nutritional therapy and cuisine. It’s our belief that modern ailments like stress, obesity, heart disease and even cancer stem from unhealthy (and recent) changes in diet and lifestyle, and a return to traditional practices in many modern nations could prove to be revolutionary. Traditional wisdom and indigenous culture is paramount in Costa Rica.
The BriBri of Costa Rica
The BriBri people have occupied Costa Rica’s south Caribbean for thousands of years. Isolated from modernity in the heart of the rainforest, around 10,000 BriBri reside in the mountains of Talamanca with a smaller population near Bocas del Toro, Panama. Despite the heavy influence of industrial development and tourism, the BriBri fight to uphold their own tradition, language and way of life. Placing the utmost value on nature and spirituality, their respect for plants, animals and the bounty of the rainforest dictates their constant push for environmental conservation and preservation.
